Understanding your audience – how to build a digital strategy
3.) Think critically about your industry and your business niche.
No matter how solid your industry may be, there’s always room for improvement. If money wasn’t an issue, what would you do to make your business stronger? Where do you see your business in the overall marketplace? Where would you like to see it? What are you willing to do to get there? What, precisely, would it take?
4.) Are you the leader in your indsutry? If not, why not?
What makes your company not as prolific as the leader in your industry? Do they have more customers/clients? Do they have a superior product? Are they that much better at providing customer service? Take the time to dissect your competition. Find out what makes them tick and how they got started. It’s never a matter of chance. More often than not, their business is the product of a competitive premeditated edge.
5.) How much time have you spent learning about conventional marketing and the internet?
If you started a business without taking the time to consider marketing and establishing a brand for yourself, you put the cart before the horse. Planning is everything. Even a solid business model can’t survive if no one knows about it. Customers/Clients don’t just appear magically. You have to earn business through a variety of channels, but of those channels, developing an image people will remember positively is the most important. If you want to be known for quality, be all about the quality of your products or services. If you want to be known for puncutality, be all about punctuality as an individual and a company. Live up to the name you want to create. Don’t be something you’re not.
6.) Explore new possibilities
Take the time to investigate the online world. Try searching on Google, Yahoo, and MSN for businesses or products like yours. See who you’re up against and find out who’s succeeding and who’s failing. Online, you can judge a book by its cover. Reputable businesses spend the money and take the time to make sure you can find them with minimal effort. The company’s who do show up the most, offer the best user experience, and back up their reputation for quality by following through with support will always come out on top.
