IM Spring Break 2009

The pandemonium continues! we’ve been rocking out hardcore at the IM Spring Break Pool Party ALL DAY! Man…these guys don’t quit! I never imagined an internet marketing conference could get this out of control! I mean, these guys take open bar to a whole new level.  I’m not sure if we’ll make it out of here alive…but at least we’ll die doin’ it big!

Well…okay, maybe there aren’t any bikini’s, or pool parties, or debauchery in the hotel rooms (that i’m aware of), or wild liquor ice luges, but there has certainly been quite a few colorful people. After an impressive morning discussion panel highlighting clever on-site SEO tactics and tactics for working with multiple departments when contracted by large-scale companies, the SEO Sumo team hunkered down for an afternoon of information architecture review and analysis.  Man…we know how to live.

The afternoon evening wrap up!

I was planning on transcribing all our notes from the afternoon’s session on linkbuilding tactics and information architecture advice, but last night’s festivities were so off the chain i’ve decided to write about them instead.  To all search marketers not in attendance at this year’s IM Spring Break…you missed a hell of a good time.

The afternoon session wrapped up with a power internal linking presentation by Rae Hoffman, who magnanimously kicked ass in person as much as she does online. We came away with some immediately actionable strategies we feel guilty for not having thought of first. The power hour Q+A put several scenarios under the magnifying glass….and i think it’s safe to say most of us walked away with a new appreciation for the power of optimizing your internal link structure.

Our pool side lounging following a day of informative presentations and lectures gave way to a feast (and open bar) of epic proportions. With Aaron Chronister in the house, it was no mystery what lay in wait within the ominously positioned chaffing dishes.

This is a story best told in pictures…so give me a few hours to consolidate the madness visually and you can experience the bacon-tastic exploits through the eyes of several accomplished (albeit inebriated) SEOs first hand.

While this post is under development…let me preliminarily conclude that I love this industry.  The people here are freakin’ creative geniuses. It’s a privilege to meet so many incredible and dedicated people.  Even though this is SEO Sumo’s first time to an internet marketing conference, we can’t imagine it gets any better than this.

much love to all our new friends.

Onwards to Day 3 of Internet Marketer’s Spring Break 2009.
