Augmented reality. The future of the Internet.
No doubt, the future of Internet is this: Augmented Reality – 3D interactive graphics added to real time webcam feed, right from your personal computer.
This amazing tutorial shows you step by step, many of them so far, how to create state-of-the-art 3D interactive web graphics for Augmented Reality, which I think is the future of Internet (as well as video-based websites).
When I first saw this clip I said “this guy makes a good looking hard-worked joke, and he makes a point, whatever it is”… and then I realized the website existed for real… so I rushed into printing out the board myself… and it works!! You could even turn the board upside down, and the software knows it.
My own face was there, and that’s one of the most important points when trying to achieve good and attractive interactive media. Unfortunately I don’t have -yet- a good screen capture software to post my own experience, so here goes the info of the guy who did it. The whole video from gotoandlearn.com has more steps than what a newbie can stand, but it’s complete enough to get it done without paying a specialist to handle it for you. This clip covers most of the steps so far, until some developer paying royalties to adobe and papervision merges the whole process in a single GUI.
The creative work shown here was created for General Electric. On the original website is another scale model using the same technique.
