Are you using knowem.com effectively?
Filed under: SEO, Social Media, Social Networks, Tools, Uncategorized — Posted by Charlie @ 11:33 amThere’s no question identity theft is on the rise, and in the online reputation management game, making sure you own your name, as well as any variation of your name is critical. Aside from learning to own your name online, it’s important to make sure your identity across a variety of social media profiles is owned by no one other than you.
The truth is, creating almost a hundred social media profiles is a tedious task requiring monotonous hours of data entry…and that’s only if you’re on point when it comes to knowing where and how to create a profile which will protect your personal brand. Although you don’t necessarily NEED to have an active profile on every social media site imaginable…there are a few key sites out there which will help your web presence mature.
Checkusernames.com (recently 301 redirected to knowem.com) is a go to resource for locking down social media accounts and verifying what profiles you do or do not own. In addition to verifying whether your primary user name is available or not…it’s the fastest way to figure out the best venues to showcase your social media strengths. The interface is simple, intuitive, and enables a user to go directly to the destination site’s signup page.
One of the primary reasons we love this site is the automated username signup feature. Although the system can’t flesh out the profile for you (that will always be up to you), it will efficiently register your chosen username across the top trafficked social media sites. Additionally, for something like $10 a month, the subscription feature will create an account for you – AUTOMATICALLY – on emerging social media sites. It’s a solid way you to stay ahead of the curve in getting active on fresh social media sites.

Claim.io (www.claim.io) is another great service for securing your username across several hundred social media accounts; and it is significantly less expensive than KnowEm. Also, DandyID.org is a great free service for collecting and managing all of your social media profiles.
