Local search optimization is one of the easiest and most effective techniques for earning targeted traffic to your domain. As internet usage continues to grow, the need for geographically targeted search results will increase. It’s not a theory…it’s a fact.
Searching for local services, products, restaurants, and various forms of entertainment is second nature to internet savvy individuals…and is becoming second nature for digital immigrants. As a small business owner, restaurant owner, or regional service provider – it’s time to make sure your potential customers can find you before the competition.
The Basics of Local Search Optimization
The first thing we do for our clients is to make sure they are listed in all appropriate business and geographical directories. If you run a search for your business’s name or generic category (i.e. Miami Sushi ) you may notice a map pinpointing your location. If it doesn’t show up, it’s most likely because YOU haven’t created one! It’s easy, free, AND people can actively review and rate your establishment – which helps create credibility and peaks interest in what you have to offer.
Go here and create a Google account, then modify your business listing with all necessary contact information. Be sure to tag the listing with relevant key phrases people might use to locate a business like yours. If you’ need some suggestions, try using the SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool, or maybe the Google Keyword Tool. Remember, the healthier your business listings appear, the more likely you are to earn credibility.
Be sure to get your best customers or clients to write a review for you on the actual Google map listing, create a business listing in Yahoo and MSN, and look for places to create company profiles where you can detail your services or products.
