Usability is a tough subject.  There’s hundreds of opinions and no matter how you look at it…there’s always a difference of opinion regarding CTA’s, buttons, navigation, readability, etc. Although usability should be considered at ALL STAGES of web development, “killer” design and visually alluring flash animations usually trump the humble usability expert.
