2009 Miami Chamber of Commerce Goals Conference Wrap Up
Speaking of people who don’t “get it”, we sat through the Mayoral Panel at the conclusion of the conference, where City of Miami Mayoral Candidates Tomas Regalado and Jose Sanchez sat down to discuss how their populist approaches to city management would help Miami become a thriving urban hub. Aside from evading every single question posed, the candidates offered some great suggestions, like “build more sidewalks”, charging people to park at the yet to be built marlin’s stadium, and well…i can’t remember…because they didn’t really offer anything of substantive value.
I did enjoy listening to the forum moderator, a ridiculously accomplished journalist, ask for specifics (multiple times within the sentence) only to receive NONE from the candidates. Although, in an unexpected turn of events, upon being asked “what would you say is your opponents greatest accomplishment…” or something to that extent, Sanchez responded “nothing comes to mind!”. That drew the strongest laugh of the event…which was great relief considering the only other valuable information we got out of the panel was hearing Sanchez say the word “city” in his concluding thoughts thirteen times!
All politics aside, we’d like to say thanks to all our new friends, the Miami Chamber of Commerce, the staff at the Downtown Hilton, and especially Emrisk.com and carrouselyacht.com for letting us perform some big screen analysis on their domains. We’re proud new members of the chamber and we look forward to getting involved in the technology committee as well as a variety of other exceptional networking events.
